Prayer vigil held for councilwoman who was assaulted
Residents and local leaders held a prayer vigil in Bridgeport Friday for City Councilwoman Eneida Martinez, who is recovering from an assault.
"Councilwoman Eneida Martinez is a pillar in this community," said Police Chief AJ Perez. "She's got a huge heart, and we are here just to pray for her, make sure that she will be welcomed back to the community."
Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Martinez has been a tireless advocate for the people of the 139th District and the entire city of Bridgeport.
Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for the person who attacked Martinez Wednesday night.
