Volunteers participate in disaster simulation

Community members put themselves in the eye of a simulated hurricane on Tuesday to ensure they would be prepared should a disaster strike.
The volunteers are part of a community emergency response team. During their final assignment, they had to put of fires and rescue actors pretending to be injured with police, the FDNY and New York City Emergency Management overseeing them.
Volunteers say after the simulation they feel ready and willing to lend a helping hand during an emergency situation.
