Former gas station to be transformed into retail space

The property of an old gas station in Westchester Square will finally be receiving a makeover.
The 21,000-square-foot lot located on the corner of Eastchester Road and Williamsbridge Road will soon be the home of a five-store strip mall, with the addition of free parking.
It was purchased for $4.5 million by Nassau County-based Bill Wolf Petroleum Corporation.
Lisa Sorin, the executive director of the Westchester Square Improvement District, said that she is excited for the changes and hopes to work with the property manager as soon as possible. She also said that the strip mall would be a great opportunity for a high-end restaurant, considering that the area is surrounded by fast food.
The intersection is also close to subways and buses.
No dates have been set for this project, though it should begin within the year.
