MORRIS HEIGHTS -

Police say a 67-year-old Morris Heights woman was fatally stabbed, and investigators believe her 60-year-old boyfriend was behind the stabbing.

Officers found Shelia Williams stabbed to death inside an apartment on the 25th floor of 1600 Sedgwick Ave. just before 2 a.m.

She was slashed multiple times on her leg and neck.

Police have identified the suspect as Tyrone Crawley. He has been charged with murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Williams’ 39-year-old daughter was also slashed in the arm, but refused medical attention.

Tenants of the building say the incident is a first, but some are now thinking about moving elsewhere.

"It surprised me," said Ingrid Damayo, who has lived in the Riverview Apartments for decades. "I want to move for a better future for my daughter."
