The New York Jets presented the Public Schools Athletic League with a $50,000 donation for the growth of girls flag football programs.
Fifty-nine schools now offer girls flag football as a varsity sport.
This donation is part of a partnership that dates back to 2001 – since then,  the Jets have donated more than $1 million.
The presentation took place at Lehman High School, where football players from Lehman and Alfred E. Smith High School got to participate in a question-and-answer session with Jets linebacker Josh Martin.
Martin, who graduated from Columbia University, told the students, “Football is a lot of fun, but I think the first thing that you've got to remember or remind yourself of is it doesn't last forever... it can also be used as a tool to gain college scholarships and the access that I’ve been fortunate to receive to take meetings and network and build these relationships and give back to the community.”
