A lawn mowing delay in parts of Van Cortlandt Park irked neighbors for weeks, local officials say.
Landscapers have since trimmed the grass, but it had grown so tall parkgoers were calling it an eyesore.
"Nobody wants to see the grass here that high," says Sam Morris. "They want to lie down or play soccer or something."
Officials are blaming the delay on a broken mower, but critics say that's just an excuse.
"If they wanted to get it done, they could get it done," says Kion Scott.
It's cut now. Parkgoers say they hope it remains that way.
The Parks Department released a statement to News 12 saying, "Staff is working hard to cut grass as quickly as possible while some of our mowing equipment is out for repairs. We have cut nearly 90 percent of the grass at Van Cortlandt and plan to finish mowing the park by this weekend."
