Two organizations are looking to transform Mosholu Parkway's Parkland.

The Parkland area is the green area surrounding the parkway in the middle and service roads on the sides. This where residents hang out, work out and cross the street.

The nonprofits, Friends of Mosholu Parkway and Projects for Public Spaces, were out Saturday morning “placemaking” with residents, thinking of ways to make the large area more community friendly and safer to cross.

Placemaking means not just designing a plan, but looking at the community as the experts for improvement ideas.

A few proposals include making the area welcoming and interactive with food vendors, events and honoring local culture.

PPS is credited with transforming Bryant Park to what it is today.

More ideas include bike lanes, planters and running and jogging loops.

DOT was also in attendance.
