A judge refused to lower bail Wednesday for the Staten Island woman accused of fatally striking two children who were crossing a Park Slope street in March.
The judge did grant Dorothy Bruns' request for protective custody after she said she was assaulted by another inmate at Rikers Island.
Her lawyer had requested the judge reduce her $75,000 bail to $6,000, arguing she was not a flight risk, has no passport and would have trouble running with two fractured vertebrae.
The 44-year-old woman faces charges of manslaughter, criminally reckless homicide and more.
Prosecutors say Bruns crashed her car into a group of pedestrians as they made their way along the crosswalk.
As a result, Abigail Blumenstein, 4, and Joshua Lew, 1, died. Three other people were injured.
According to investigators, Bruns went into a seizure before the crash. She was driving despite having allegedly been told two months earlier not to drive anymore following a different crash.
Bruns has pleaded not guilty, and she says she does not remember the deadly Park Slope incident.
She is due back in court on Aug. 15.
