Seventy volunteers with the “We Love You Foundation” were honored in Bridgeport for helping keep the city clean on Sunday.
The volunteers collected hundreds of pounds of garbage from the city’s coastline.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal said, "I couldn't imagine a better way to spend Father's Day then with young people who want to make Connecticut better."
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim kicked off the event and said that the volunteers who took part were heroes for protecting the environment.
The “We Love You Foundation” held 500 similar events around the world.
