Norwalk man drowns at his 32nd birthday party

A Norwalk man drowned at his own birthday party in a pool in Stamford's Glenbrook neighborhood Sunday, police say.
Police identified the victim as Michelet Mongerard, who turned 32 Saturday. They say his death appears accidental, but they're looking into it.
"Right now, we can't find any witnesses who can tell us how he got into the pool," says Stamford Police Sgt. Paul Guzda. "The assumption is he dove in on his own, but that's what we're investigating."
According to police, a group of about 30 relatives and friends was celebrating the birthday with a pool party on Greenfield Road Sunday.
During the event, partygoers spotted Mongerard at the bottom of the pool.
His cousin dove in and pulled him out of the water, then performed CPR. According to police, he revived him for a short period of time, but Mongerard died at the hospital.
Police say there is no evidence alcohol played a role in the incident.
