The original Chipwich is back in time for the Fourth of July thanks to an ice cream maker from Greenwich.
David Clarke, of Greenwich, is bringing back the classic ice cream treat from the ‘80s
The second-generation ice cream maker handed out samples at Stew Leonard’s Tuesday to an eager group of shoppers.
Clarke bought the rights to the frozen confection, which disappeared from the market in 2011.
He says the response to the comeback is even more enthusiastic than he hoped for
“I knew it was going to be good, but I didn't realize the number of people, the people that have been kind of coming out of the woodwork on social media, telling stories of their childhood,” says Clarke. “Telling that when they bought it they remember so vividly buying it with their grandfather or whatever, it been really fun.”

The Chipwich hit stores in April and can be found from Maine to Chicago.
