Brooklyn commuters kept on their toes Tuesday as they tried to keep dry amid the day's severe storm.
Tuesday's storm brought to Brooklyn thunder, lightning, strong wind and stints of torrential downpours that were broken up by periods of lighter rain.
News 12 spotted dozens of people who appeared to be caught off-guard by the weather. Many sprinted for cover or waited for a break in the rain under scaffolding.
Rain and oppressively dark clouds were present for hours after cracks of thunder rattled Brooklyn in the afternoon.
The rain did take away some humidity, which some say caused the borough to feel like a tropical rainforest before the storm.
