A new recording studio was unveiled Tuesday for emerging musicians at the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club in Fort Greene.
The studio is fully loaded with all of the amenities an emerging musician requires: A stage full of instruments, a mixing booth, a radio for podcasts and programs and a recording booth.
“I’ve been practicing [music] on my own, but it’s kind of hard when you don’t have opportunities,” said Sarahfina Cunningham. “But the Boys and Girls Club presented these opportunities to me.”
The studio was made possible by the assistance of Notes for Notes, a nonprofit that aims to provide young people with free access to musical instruments and a grant by the Garden of Dreams Foundation.
“This is another vehicle for them to meet positive folks and grow up to be positive young people and show off their talents,” said Antonio Fort Junior, director of clubhouse operations.
