Friends and relatives of a motorcyclist from Centereach say they still have unanswered questions about the crash that killed him last year.

Richard Schmansky, 58, was traveling alongside a car on Smithtown Avenue in Ronkonkoma when a police report says he was sideswiped by Janese Chetuck, who was 22 years old at the time of the crash.

The police report does not elaborate on the details of the incident.

Schmansky’s loved ones say they don’t know if it was a case of distracted driving. They also say no drug or alcohol tests were performed on Chetuck after the crash. No charges were ever filed against her.

The victim's family and friends were at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Hauppauge Friday for a scheduled hearing regarding the status of Chetuck’s driver’s license. She did not appear at the hearing.

The victim's mother Aura Candelario told News 12 that she just wants to know what happened to her son.

“She killed my son…We want to know what happened,” said Candelario. “Was she texting? Was she talking? Did she miss her street and suddenly say ‘I have to turn around and not look?’ What happened?”

News 12 Long Island reached out to the Suffolk County Police Department, as well as the DMV, and the DA's office for clarification about what happened.
