A symposium was held at Suffolk Community College Thursday to connect veterans and their families with the services available to them.

Attendees of the “Breaking Down Barriers” event were offered on-the-spot help and answers from experts and service providers who can offer guidance, advocacy and resource navigation.

The symposium was free for veterans, military and their families for general admission.

The conference also discussed suicide awareness, PTSD treatment and overall wellness.

This was the first time the event was held in Suffolk County.
