Study initiated into flooding concerns on Shore Road

The city has announced it will launch a study into the dangers of flooding on Shore Road.
The 15-month, $1.5 million study was approved by the New York City Department of Design and Construction. It will run through November 2019.
A fix was attempted in the past with new blacktop on a part of the road, but flooding continued. The city now hopes the study will lead to a permanent solution.
The decision comes as two brothers, Tommy and James Breen, have been documenting the flooding hazards for the past two years.
The brothers also got the attention of Councilman Mark Gjonaj, who says the flooding in the area has been documented for 160 years.
Gjonaj says he will be working to get the needed funds for the changes in the city council budget for 2020.
