Facebook is reportedly launching a new feature designed to connect users with potential new friends they would not otherwise meet. 

The new 'Things in Common' feature now shows users interests they have in common with other users in a public setting like a group or event.

The feature will reportedly show highlighted common interests of users who publicly comment on topics in groups or another public setting on the social media platform. 

Facebook has reportedly begun testing the new feature, according to NASDAQ. 

It is reportedly only being tested by some users in the United States and there is no official release date for the new feature.
