The mother of the man accused of dismembering a Bronx woman was thrown out of a court proceeding Thursday after trying to confront the victim’s family.
Daquan Wheeler is accused of killing 25-year-old Lisa Marie Velasquez with a hammer and then dumping her dismembered body parts in two Bronx parks. Wheeler's girlfriend Ciara Martinez is also charged.
During Wheeler’s court appearance, his mother – Tijuana Graham Wheeler – was removed by court officers. She says she was responding to taunts from the victim’s family.
The victim's family says this is not a battle between families, but for justice for Velasquez.
Daquan Wheeler decided not to testify before a grand jury.
