A suspect has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a Lindenhurst gas station where a clerk fought back.
Police arrested Donald Duffy, 18, of Amityville, and charged him with attempted robbery Tuesday evening. He will be arraigned in Central Islip Wednesday.
Police say Duffy entered the Ultra gas station earlier this month with a knife and demanded cash from the clerk, Erkan Kaymaz.
Kaymaz refused, as the man opened the cash register, but Kaymaz slammed it shut. He then swung a metal stool at the suspect, who ran out of the gas station with nothing.
Kaymaz quickly called police. The encounter was captured on a security camera, which gave police a clear view of the suspect's face.
