Police arrest man accused of breaking into homes, stealing booze

Police in Middlesex County have arrested a man accused of breaking into multiple homes and stealing booze and vehicles.
Police say that in most cases, the burglaries occurred while the homeowners were asleep. Surveillance video shows the suspect inside the homes, rummaging through belongings.
"He would peruse the house, in most cases taking keys and then a vehicle. Sometimes helping himself to some beverages, alcohol, and some food. And then he would steal a vehicle and go on his way,” says North Brunswick Police Capt. Brian Hoiberg.
Authorities have arrested 57-year-old New Brunswick resident Gary Hunter and charged him with the crimes.
Police say he's responsible for seven burglaries of homes on First Avenue, Cranbury Cross and Pine Street, among others. He is also allegedly linked to burglaries in Franklin and in New Brunswick.
Officials say that in most cases the stolen vehicles were found close to the crime scenes.
Hunter is also allegedly wanted for burglaries in Cincinnati. He was charged with theft and burglary.
