Police say they've arrested the suspect accused of knocking a woman unconscious in Freeport and raping her on her own front lawn.
Ever L. Martinez Reyes, 24, of Roosevelt, is facing multiple charges in connection with the Sept. 28 attack.
According to police, a 36-year-old woman was walking on Parsons Avenue in Freeport around 1:30 a.m. when she was struck in the face and knocked unconscious. She woke up, realized she was being sexually assaulted and fought back. The suspect took off.
Police had released surveillance images of the suspect yesterday. They said they believed it was a random attack.
Martinez Reyes is charged with two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of second-degree assault.
News 12 is told that Martinez is an undocumented immigrant who had previously been deported after crossing the border illegally. He does not have any prior arrests on his record or documented gang affiliation.
Martinez Reyes was arraigned in district court in Hempstead Saturday afternoon. He is due back in court Oct. 10.
