Doctors hope they are narrowing down the mystery illness that afflicted a once-adventurous toddler from Nassau County.
Brooke Corey, 2, of Mill Neck, is being called a medical mystery. Her parents say she stopped eating and walking, and became lethargic two months ago.
Doctors originally diagnosed her with anemia and said she needed iron supplements. That hasn't helped. She's had a laundry list of medical procedures so far, and doctors say they hope they are narrowing down their diagnosis.
Doctors say Brooke’s ailment is aggressive and systemic throughout her body.
Brooke's parents say it's the not knowing that makes it almost unbearable for them and their family.
“It's been eight weeks and three hospitals,” says Sheri Corey. “As a mom, I am preparing myself for the worst, but I am hoping for the best. We're basically praying for a miracle.”
A fundraiser for the family is being held later this month in Oyster Bay.
