Crews will conduct preliminary work on a rail bridge over the Hackensack River today.
This will all be happening despite a fight over funding.
A 200-foot utility pole will be erected at the century old Portal North Bridge.
It will hold power lines for trains traveling in and out of New York.
The bridge causes major commuting delays when it gets stuck open after boats pass beneath it.
