Department of Education fires M.S. 118 teacher over slavery lesson

A Bronx middle school teacher whose lesson on slavery went too far, according to some, has been fired by the city.
Patricia Cummings caused backlash in February when several students claimed she told black students in her M.S. 118 social studies class to lie on the floor for a lesson on slavery
They say she stepped on their backs to show them what the treatment of slaves felt like.
She was suspended at that time.
The Department of Education now says they've concluded their investigation and are terminating Cummings based on its results.
Last month, Cummings filed a lawsuit against the city in regards to her suspension.
