A Brooklyn man is among three people arrested for allegedly smuggling more than $1.25 million worth of untaxed cigarettes from Virginia into the borough.
According to the Attorney General's office, Fahd Muthana helped funnel about 1,500 cartons of cigarettes per week, avoiding more than $426,000 in tax payments to the city and state.
Muthana is facing several charges including criminal tax fraud and money laundering.
He returns to court in December.
