Business Briefs: Google, Amazon, Samsung

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Amazon isn't the only Silicon Valley company spreading its roots on the East Coast. According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is planning an expansion in New York City, adding office space to fit 20,000 additional employees. That in addition to the 25,000 jobs Amazon would bring to the city - if New York is selected to host one of its two new headquarters.

Amazon is sending out its first-ever toy catalog to millions of customers. The holiday catalog will go out later this month - and will feature 70 pages of the company's top selling toys for different age groups, says Cheddar. Toys 'R' Us, who went bankrupt earlier this year, was long known for its annual holiday catalog.

Samsung is finally showing off its foldable smartphone. The Infinity Flex display made its debut this week at a developers' conference. When spread out, the phone is 7.3 inches across, but can fold in half to be more compact. No timetable for its release was announced, other than saying production will begin in the coming months.
