Those traveling this Thanksgiving will be in good company, as roads could see serious gridlock as early as tonight.
AAA predicts a record 54 million Americans will hit the roads, rails and skies this holiday week.
Most commuters will travel by car, an estimated 48.5 million Americans. That number is up 5 percent from last year.
Most New Yorkers plan to get a head start with the highest number of people leaving after work tonight. Drivers should expect a gridlock nightmare, particularly between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
AAA says Sunday will be the day most people travel home.
