An 11-year-old boy was taken into police custody for questioning after his stepfather died following some sort of dispute inside their home

Police say the 51-year-old man who died was already dealing with some sort of long-term illness when he was injured during an argument with his stepson.

Investigators say they responded to a call of a familial dispute around 7 p.m. Thursday on Heath Avenue.

News 12 is told officials found 51-year-old George Szkred unconscious and unresponsive and slumped over on the couch.

Also, at the scene was Szkred's 11-year-old stepson, who police say kicked his stepfather in the stomach during their argument.

Szkred was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say the 11-year-old will not face any charges.
