The new class of lawmakers attended their freshman orientation at the State Capitol in Hartford Tuesday.
Leadership showed the state's fresh faces how everything works in the Capitol.
The new class is a large and diverse group of lawmakers, including two who are in their 20s.
"It's a huge freshman class, and I think the value of that is bringing a fresh perspective and a new set of eyes to issues," says 22-year-old state Rep.-elect Will Haskell. "We've got to put Wi-Fi on Metro-North; we've got to start investing in students and addressing the student loan crisis."
The excitement of orientation day may be short-lived. Lawmakers will have to plug a $2 billion budget hole, and tackle thorny issues like highway tolls and recreational marijuana.
The new lawmakers will be back on Jan. 9 for inauguration and the opening of the General Assembly.
