Police: 6 teens wanted for 4-hour joyride in stolen MTA bus

Posted: Updated:
THE BRONX -

Police are on the lookout for six teenagers suspected of taking an MTA bus for a joy ride last weekend.

Police say four boys and two girls, all teens, got onto a parked, unoccupied New York City MTA bus on Hunts Point Avenue where the 6 train is. They then drove it for hours throughout three boroughs.

The incident happened Sunday, Dec. 23 around 7:40 p.m.

News 12 is told they drove it to several locations in Brooklyn and Queens, but it's unclear what path they traveled. Eventually they dropped it four hours later at 803 Prospect Ave. in the Bronx, which is about a half-mile away from where the bus was initially parked.

Another bus incident took place on the same day around 12:30 a.m. in Brooklyn. Police say three individuals went into a bus depot in Brooklyn and took that for a joy ride too.

Police say it's possible one or more individuals from the Bronx incident participated in the Brooklyn incident, but it's still under investigation.

Officials say no one was hurt, and there was no damage reported on either of the buses.
