Police say two robbers struck two Nassau County stores within a few hours on Thursday.
Security footage shows two masked men, one of them holding a handgun, inside Jada's Luxury Beauty Supply in Elmont around 6:30 p.m. The duo demanded cash, and shop owner Jada Joseph says she immediately opened the register and gave them about $30.
Joseph says she believes the gun might not have been loaded and that she asked the robber if it was a toy. She says the robbers then started to get frustrated and tried to force their way behind the counter.
Video shows one of the masked men pushing Joseph and punching her in the face. She still managed to chase them out the door. They then ran off and disappeared. Joseph was back at work on Friday.
About three hours later, police say the pair hit a vape shop in Massapequa. A man in red could be seen pointing a gun at the owner, while the other suspect goes for the cash. Nobody was hurt in this incident, but the robbers made off with about $300.
Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
