Burst pipes cause icy mess, close rest stop shop, McDonald’s
Burst pipes at the Exit 22 rest stop on I-95 in Fairfield closed a convenience shop and a McDonald's Tuesday morning.
Officials say one pipe burst at Alltown convenience shop and two burst at the McDonald's – causing an icy mess. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian Gomola says once they pushed all the water outside the convenience store, that's when the pipes burst at McDonald's. It flooded the drive-thru area.
A Health Department official told News 12 that some candy and a food case at Alltown was damaged. There was no damage to any food at McDonald's.
The convenience shop and McDonald's reopened Tuesday afternoon.
