A law protecting women's reproductive rights is now in effect in New York.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the Reproductive Health Act into law yesterday.
The law de-criminalizes a woman's access to abortions and expands the medical professionals who can perform the procedures.
The law also legalizes abortion after 24 weeks in cases where it would protect a woman's health or where a fetus is not viable.
The signing comes 46 years after the Supreme Court legalized abortion.
