Police want help identifying the suspect caught on camera in a smash-and-grab burglary in Fairfield.
Newly released surveillance video shows the suspect smash in the top half of a glass front door at the Wine Rack, located at 575 Kings Highway East. Police say they received the alarm at 2:56 a.m. Monday.
After a few tugs, the suspect is seen pulling open the door and climbing over a wooden barricade.
Patrols arrived and found the suspect had stolen several bottles of alcohol, according to police.
Police say the suspect likely took off in a car.
"He was a short, Hispanic male or white male with a beard. At that time of the morning, he was wearing some heavy clothes,” says Fairfield Police Lt. John Bucherati. “He was wearing a lanyard at the time. We're still trying to figure out where that may be from or where that could lead back to. It's one of the things that we are investigating."
Anyone with information is asked to call the detective bureau at 203-254-4840.
