Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Citing new performance numbers, the MTA says its subway action plan launched in 2017 is working accordingly.

The MTA says the weekday on-time performance went up to 78.2 percent – up from 65.2 percent in March 2018.

MTA officials say that's the highest on-time performance in five years.

MTA officials says new equipment that has been able to clear an unprecedented amount of track debris has contributed to the reduction of delays.

NYC Transit President Andy Byford says there is still more to be done that will help the system, but is proud of the new figures.
