Bronx Independent Living Services recognized National Crime Victims Rights' Week by hosting a group of people with reason to celebrate.

The event was hosted Saturday in Soundview with the message: "You are not alone." It was a celebration of the survival of the victims of crimes, who overcame trauma.

With music, food and fun, the group acknowledged that it can be hard at times to ask for help -- but underscored the importance of not letting anyone get in the way of your life.
