A group of Bronx students took home the top prize in a national entrepreneurship competition.
Students at the High School of World Cultures took home the trophy in the NYC Build competition with the "Alo" lamp -- a blackout lamp that is dark on one side and light on the other.
The idea is that people who share a bedroom can use the lamp without disturbing another person. Student Mehrim Maisha says the idea came from fights between her and her brother.
The students worked for months coming up with an idea, crafting a pitch and then presenting it to a panel of judges in California.
Next up for the product -- the students want to make it more environmentally friendly by having it in glass instead of plastic.
