State police: 1 dog dies after 20 are rescued from deplorable, inhumane conditions

State police have arrested a woman from Shamong -- accused of sheltering 20 dogs in deplorable and inhumane conditions.
Detectives responded Tuesday to the home of Marissa Corbett, 39, on Oakshade Road and discovered she was maintaining a boarding and training business.
According to state police, the odor of animal feces spread throughout the inside of the home.

State police say five of the dogs found were in critical condition and taken to an emergency veterinary clinic, where one later died.

Corbett was charged with one count of third degree animal cruelty, among other charges.
She was released with a pending court date.
