The Foodbank of New York City has created a new portrait exhibit focused on those who suffer from hunger.

The "Face Hunger" portraits are located at the company's warehouse in Hunts Point and will eventually be turned into banners that will permanently hang in the warehouse.

Portraits that were unveiled Tuesday include personalized messages of hope, inspiration and service from those who live and work in the community.

It was also a day of recognizing the organizations that donated to the food bank, especially during the government shutdown.

The event also dedicated a new building to Jack Fritts, who helped start the food bank 36 years ago.

The exhibit is not open to the public but can be viewed online.
