An educator and principal is making major strides in the Bronx community for his students.
Edward Tom started his career working in retail and decided to open up the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics 15 years ago.
Tom started working as a math teacher in Manhattan but says he noticed that there were a lot of kids from the Bronx who were traveling into Manhattan for a quality school.
He says that is why he wanted to create his own school in the Bronx District 9, the poorest congressional district in the country.
Now many of his students are going to top Ivy League schools.
