NYCHA is relocating their eviction hearings from lower Manhattan to a new office in Brooklyn, a move that some say was made with little notice.
NYCHA's Office of Impartial Hearings is currently located at 250 Broadway. But due to high rent costs in Manhattan, the office is moving to a more affordable location at 803 Atlantic Ave. that could make it more difficult for Bronx residents to get to.
There is specific concern for seniors and the disabled, many of whom live in NYCHA complexes.
To add to the issue, many residents say they were unaware of the move, which is occurring June 14, with doors opening June 24.
In a statement to News 12, NYCHA confirmed the relocation, saying in part that, "direct outreach as well as all transit options to the new location is underway and will continue through the transition."
