A press conference with Mayor Reed Gusciora was held Saturday afternoon to address a shooting at a bar in Trenton that left multiple people injured early Saturday morning.
Five female victims and five male victims were injured during the shooting. Officials say two of those victims were taken to the hospital and have since been released with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say a dark-colored vehicle pulled up to Ramoneros Liquor & Bar on Brunswick Avenue and Monroe Street just before 12:30 a.m.
They say the vehicle fired up to 30 shots. Two suspects were reported firing the shots from the vehicle.
Mayor Gusciora said he wants to point to a national problem of gun violence across the United States.
“The weapons that come into New Jersey often come from states with lax gun laws. Nonetheless, Trenton can’t be the tale of two cities, where you have real economic progress but at the same time young people are concerned about their safety and going out into neighborhoods,” Gusciora said.
