ALBANY -

New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams was arrested Tuesday afternoon during a Housing Justice for All protest outside Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office in Albany.

Hundreds of activists were demanding universal rent control among other tenant protections.

State police began arresting individuals who refused to move while blocking legislative chambers.

Housing advocates have been pushing for lawmakers to pass rent control and rent stabilization rules before the Legislature adjourns on June 19.
