Gov. Ned Lamont will sign into effect Ethan's Law Thursday, a gun safety bill that requires firearms be stored safely if there is a child under 18 years old in the house.
Mark Barden, co-founder of Sandy Hook Promise, tells News 12 the new piece of legislation will help save many lives. Barden lost his 7-year-old son Daniel during the Sandy Hook shooting.
The law is named after Ethan Song, 15, who accidentally shot and killed himself after he found a gun at his friends parents’ house
"The Songs know as well as we do nothing is going to being our precious loved ones back but being able to advocate for smart policing initiatives that will influence positive public health outcomes is a wonderful way to honor those we have lost," Barden says.
Gov. Lamont will hold a public signing ceremony at 3 p.m. at the Guilford fire station.
