FORDHAM -

Members of the LGBTQ community are applying for new affordable housing developments in the Bronx they say caters to their needs.

Tony Torres, a member of the LGBTQ community, says he's applying to SAGE’s new affordable housing developments coming to Crotona Park next year. The Sage Center in Fordham serves older members of the LGBTQ community.

The 83 new units are specifically designed for LGBTQ members who are 62 years old and older.

Many members call SAGE a safe haven where they can be themselves and are looking forward to calling the new development a permanent home.

The application process will open in a few months.
