Baked in the Bronx: Krispy Kreme signs lease for Castle Hill bakery

New Yorkers were enthusiastic last week when it was announced that Krispy Kreme Doughnuts were opening a location in Times Square. Today, it was announced that their doughnuts will be baked in the Bronx.
Simone Development Companies confirms that Krispy Kreme Doughnuts recently signed a lease for over 26,000-square-feet of warehouse space at 525 Zerega Ave. to host a regional bakery and distribution center.
The president of Simone Metro Properties told News 12 in a statement: "We are very excited about Krispy Kreme coming to the Bronx. It's great for New York, everybody loves Krispy Kreme."
There was no word yet on when the company would be moving in or how many jobs it would create. The Times Square store is set to open in early 2020.
