$3M+ renovation at Hunts Point Playground unveiled

Once a blight in the community, the newly reconstructed Hunts Point Playground is back and better than ever after a $3.37 million renovation.
NYC Parks Commissioner Michael J. Silver, Bronx Borough Coordinator Effie Ardizzone, Councilman Rafael Salamanca, Jr. and students from P.S. 48 were on hand Wednesday for the official ribbon cutting honors.
The playground features a renovated comfort station, new play equipment, safety surfacing, a spray shower, fencing and new seating areas.
It's all part of Mayor Bill de Blasio's Community Parks Initiative, which has made it a point to invest in smaller parks across the Five Boroughs in need of significant upgrades.
