The City Council passed a bill this week that aims to hold NYCHA workers accountable for overtime.

It comes after NYCHA employees allegedly threw wild parties at the Throgs Neck Houses while on company time.

The bill was introduced by Councilman Ritchie Torres, who was says there was abuse fraud and corruption found in Throgs Neck. The bill would require the Department of Investigations to investigate overtime charges and contracting fraud in each of the 326 NYCHA houses throughout the city.

Torres says there's nothing worse than stealing money from taxpayers in the city, especially those in the Bronx.

In 2018, Throgs Neck had the highest overtime charges at around $500,000, which is $300,000 more than the year before.

NYCHA responded to News 12 in a statement saying, "Our goal is to improve productivity and deliver the highest level of service to our residents and we will use all tools at our disposal, including overtime. NYCHA has made significant improvements in strengthening accountability and transparency, and we have already implemented an electronic process for the approval and tracking of overtime."
