The SPYSCAPE exhibit in Manhattan promises to be a journey of self-discovery.
The exhibit features the only spy-genre bookstore, according to general manager Ian Oldaker.
“It is our prime amenity of the SPYSCAPE experience. All of our titles here are related to the spy genre and we have over a thousand titles. And we do public programming here as well, we do author events and book signings,” says Oldaker.
Oldaker says the bookstore is important because it shows that spies are ordinary people that do extraordinary things.
“Spies may be very good at cryptology. They may not be so good at lie detection. We try to pinpoint those skills for each of our visitors and then they can apply them in the real world.,” says Oldaker.
The bookstore also includes an undercover book section, which involves visitors using some of their own spy skills to figure out what the books are about.
