Worshippers of Kingdom United Fellowship Church say the building serves as a safe space for anyone who feels marginalized.
Pastor Nicole Reardon and her wife, First Lady Ursula Torruella, say most of their congregants are members of the LGBTQ community.
The Pentecostal church opened this past March and has 30 faithful worshippers who gather every Sunday for the 11:30 a.m. Mass.
Pastor Reardon, who is also a Department of Corrections officer, says the church’s focus is community outreach. The church’s outreach includes giving food to the poor and developing youth and young adult mentorship programs.
